Electronic Aids for Creating Citations

RefWorks

RefWorks is a bibliography manager that allows you to create your own database of citations and format footnotes and bibliographies by importing references from the library catalog or online databases. The first time that you use this software, you must establish a personal account. Additional help is available at RefWorks Help. A tutorial is available at RefWorks Tutorial.

Full-Text Theology Research Databases

ATLAReligion

The ATLAReligion database indexes 1,600 journals, essays, and book reviews in religion and theology. Full-text links are provided for many citations. The database covers from 1949 (with selected records going back to 1818) to the present, although indexing tends to run about 8 months behind.

Ebsco Religion and Philosophy Collection

Ebsco Religion provides full-text articles from 300 journals in religion and philosophy. Coverage is 1975 - present, and the indexing is very current.

Proquest Religion

ProQuest Religion provides full-text articles from 120 journals, magazines and newspapers in the field of religion. Coverage is 1986 - present, and indexing is very current.

iPreach

iPreach is an online collection of commentaries, Bible dictionaries, and other lectionary resources for exegetical research and sermon preparation.

Routledge Religion Reference Resources

This resource includes the full-text contents of 30 Routledge reference books on Christianity and other religions.

Digital Karl Barth Library

This resource includes 'The Church Dogmatics' in English and the origial german, as well as the first 36 volumes of 'Gesamtausgabe' and additional not yet published material. New content will be added quarterly.

OCLC FirstSearch is a portal providing access to 35 different electronic research databases on all subject areas, including ArticleFirst, Dissertations Abstracts, ERIC, PsychArticles and PsychFirst.

Oxford Music Online provides full-text resources for music research including full-text articles and biographies from the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians.

This database provides a comprehensive collection of materials on the lives and events which have shaped African American history and culture, including primary source documents, articles, images, charts, maps, and tables.

56,646 biographies of people who shaped the history of the British Isles and beyond, from the earliest times to the year 2004. Updated 3 times yearly.

The Books in Print database cites in-print, out-of-print, and forthcoming books and audio-visuals from North American publishers, updated weekly.

WorldCat is a world-wide bibliographic database compiling the holdings of thousands of libraries. VTS patrons can use WorldCat to place electronic interlibrary loan requests.

The definitive lexicon of the English language provides definitions and the history and etymological sources of words. It is updated quarterly with at least 1,000 new and revised entries.

Encyclopaedia Britannica is a comprehensive general encyclopedia with over 73,000 full-text articles and links to recommended websites on every topic.

Theological Citation Databases (no full-text)

The database contains article abstracts from 500 journals, book reviews, and book abstracts on New Testament topics. Coverage in the database is 1985 to the present.

The database contains article abstracts from 450 journals, book reviews, and book abstracts on Old Testament and related topics. Coverage in the database is 1978 to the present.

The database covers all aspects of the Catholic faith and includes citations of articles and reviews published in over 200 Roman Catholic periodicals. Coverage in the database dates back to 1981.

This database indexes Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Missiology theses from schools of theology accredited by the Association of Theological Schools. Indexing began in 1981. Author, title, project advisor, institution, abstract and subject access are provided. Remote access is availble to all.
